Frequently Asked Questions

Should I get a Topper or a Wig?

Not sure whether to get a topper or a wig? Here is some info to help you decide.
Toppers can help you conceal thinning hair or areas of hair loss at the crown, hairline or top of the head. They are a good option if you do not have complete hair loss, as they can be blended with your own hair. They come in all fibers and are very easy to apply too. They also come in different base sizes depending on the area you want to cover. That is not all, you can also use toppers to add volume or length, or just to cover roots growth between coloring.
As for wigs, they offer full coverage, so they are recommended if you have complete hair loss, or if you want to change your style in an instant.

What is the Best Cap Design?

Basically, choosing the cap design depends on your needs, preferences, expectations and budget. Here is a quick guide to know them all.

Lace front wigs are designed with a sheer lace base attached in the front beyond the hairline of the wig, covering the front of the head and running from ear to ear. The most important benefit is that they create the image of a natural hairline. Hair can be worn off the face and look natural!
Monofilament wigs give the look of real hair growing from the scalp. Hair comes out of the sheer in the same direction as natural hair growth. Hair can be parted and styled in any direction, providing more styling freedom than classic wigs. The monofilament can be partial or full mono top.
Hand-tied wigs
have individual hair fibers hand-tied to the cap. This is a detailed and delicate process, but it creates the most natural look off all caps.
Finally, machine made wigs may be the least natural looking, but they are a good option if you are on a budget. You can still style them and create different looks.

How to Apply Hair Extensions

Just follow these easy steps:

1. Tease the root of your hair in the area where the extension will be applied. This gives the clips a better area to hold on to and provides a solid grip to help the clip to stay in place.
2. Hide the clips by ensuring that there is plenty of hair in the top layer laying over the extensions. If you find that you can still see the clips once your extensions are in, remove the clip and place it lower underneath more of your hair.
3. You can have them customized to the desired length and create a seamless look that blends with your natural hair flawlessly.
As for color, choose a color that is as close as possible to your natural hair. You can always go a shade lighter than your own hair. For a more natural look, choose rooted colors or 2-tone combination or highlights.

How to Apply Wigs

You got your first wig, not sure how to apply it… just follow these easy steps:
1- Turn wig over and hold in front of you (hairline should be facing you). Hold at nape area and slip wig on like a cap, keeping ears free.
2- Gently push hairline of wig up to match up with your natural hairline.
3- Hold ear tabs and adjust to ensure wig is on evenly in front of the ears.
4- Use wire in ear tabs to adjust and form to the shape of the temples.
5- Use fingers, brush or comb to help shape into desired style Ready!

How to Wash Wigs

You got a new wig, you wore it a few times… now it is time to wash it.
Follow these simple steps and make sure to use the right products for the fiber of your wig.
1. Detangle. Hold your wig and remove any tangles with a wide tooth comb. Start from the ends and work your way up.
2. Cold water. Place your wig under cool, running water.
3. Shampoo. Apply a small amount of shampoo and lather. Work with the hair in the same direction. Rinse with cold water until water is clear.
4. Towel dry. Wrap your wig in a towel and pat dry to eliminate excess water.
5. Condition. Spray a leave-in conditioner, mainly at the ends.
6. Air dry. Place your wig on a wig stand and let it air dry.

How to Style Wigs

For synthetic wigs you will need a wig brush, a wide tooth comb, and your fingers. Start combing from the ends and work your way up. Most of our wigs are ready to wear out of the box, just shake them and wear. You can also play with sprays, mousses, leave-in conditioners or any other styling product specifically designed for synthetic fiber.

Heat-friendly wigs can be styled as desired:
• To straighten, take a 1 inch section starting at the roots and run a flat iron to the ends.
• To curl, wrap the hair around a curling iron and hold for 10 seconds. Carefully slide the tool out and pin the curl in place. Once the fiber has completely cooled it will keep the curl.
• Heat-friendly synthetic fiber can withstand heat up to 350F/ 180C. We recommend a low-medium setting. Fiber will be damaged if the heat setting is too high. We do not recommend curling or straightening the hair while wearing. The fiber will get very hot.

Human hair wigs can also be styled as desired:
• To straighten, take a 1 inch section starting at the roots and run a flat iron to the ends.
• Tu curl, wrap the hair around a curling iron and hold for 10 seconds and release.
• Before using heat, use a heat-protector product.

Human Hair vs. Synthetic Hair. All Pros and Cons.

Understanding the differences between human hair and synthetic hair is a good starting point for selecting the perfect wig or hairpiece. So here you will find the main differences and the pros and cons.
Natural hair wigs are created from harvested human hair, so they look, feel and act just like your own hair. Synthetic wigs are created from man-made fibers using specialized technology to give the overall appearance and feel of real hair.
Human Hair Pros:
1. Styling Versatility. Can be styled just like your own hair. Some can even be colored.
2. Texture. Human hair wigs come in a variety of textures, so you can match your own hair texture very closely.
3. Longevity. With proper care, human hair wigs can last a year or more when worn daily.
4. Natural Look. Human hair wigs feel great and can look incredibly natural.
Human Hair Cons:
1. High Maintenance. Just like real hair, human hair wigs need to be washed, deep-conditioned and re-styled frequently.
2. Cost. More expensive.
3. Reacts to Weather. Like your own hair would, human hair wigs react to the weather and can become frizzy, dry, etc.
4. Color Fading. The color of a human hair wig will oxidize or fade with exposure to light.
5. Fragile. The hair will incur damage if subjected to harsh brushing, back-combing or overuse of heated styling tools.
6. Weight. May feel heavier than synthetic wigs of a similar length and style.
7. Styling. Human hair wigs require more effort and skill to style.

Synthetic Hair Pros:
1. Easy and Low Maintenance. Never have to be styled. Just wash, dry and then shake them out, and the wig will return to its initial style. Ideal is you are very busy or going through health problems.
2. Style Memory. Not affected by weather.
3. Large Color Selection.
4. Cost. Relatively inexpensive.

Synthetic Hair Cons:
1. Shine. Some may have an unnatural shine.
2. Longevity. Synthetic wigs do not last as long as human hair wigs.
3. Less Versatility. Synthetic wigs cannot styled with hot tools. Color cannot be changed either.

Heat-friendly Synthetic Wigs
They are a special type of synthetic wig that can be styled with hot tools.

HD Pros:

3. Realistic Looking. Typically less shiny than other synthetic wigs.
4. Consistent. They will not react to weather.
5. Cost. More cost-effective than human hair wigs.

HD Cons:
1. Texture. Heat friendly synthetic wigs can become nappy if they are restyled excessively or exposed to abrasive actions.
2. Longevity. Do not last as long as human hair wigs or traditional synthetic wigs.
3. Cannot Be Colored.
